Hey, My Name Is Gregory Shuryn

I’m Gregory Shuryn, a photographer based in Northern New Jersey, specializing in boudoir, editorial fashion, beauty, portrait, and commercial photography throughout New Jersey and New York City.

I’ve spent more than 13 years working in the photography and video industry, and I’ve pretty much always had a camera nearby. What started with photographing everything from paperweights and snow globes to street signs eventually became a deeper interest in people, creativity, and the way a photograph can change how someone sees themselves.

After experiencing the loss of two siblings, photography became something more personal. It gave me a way to explore creativity, connection, and the people around me. What began as curiosity gradually developed into something much more meaningful.

More Than a Photograph

I’m naturally pretty relaxed and observant. I tend to take things in quietly before I jump in, and that carries into the way I photograph.

I like getting to know the person in front of my camera. Conversation is a big part of that. I ask questions, listen, and give people room to settle in rather than expecting them to immediately know how to pose or perform.

One of my favorite things about photography is watching someone's personality develop in front of the lens. You can often see the shift happen—from uncertain, to comfortable, to completely owning the moment.

That transformation is especially meaningful to me with boudoir photography. I love creating an environment where someone can reconnect with themselves, feel confident, and walk away feeling refreshed.

My Approach

I don’t believe great photographs come from simply telling someone where to stand.

Every session is collaborative, thoughtfully directed, and built around making you feel comfortable enough to be yourself. I prepare mood boards and creative direction when appropriate, but I also leave room for the session to evolve naturally.

During a shoot, I’ll show you images from the back of the camera, make adjustments when something isn't working, and give you space to take a break when you need one. You never have to know how to pose before you arrive—that’s part of my job.

I also have very little interest in forced expressions, overacting, or making someone feel like they have to perform for the camera. My goal is to create photographs that feel like you, just presented in the best possible way.

To me, a successful photograph isn't defined by how much a session costs. It's defined by how the finished image makes the person in it feel.

Why I Photograph

Photography became especially meaningful to me during a difficult period in my life. I continued creating through that time, and one particular creative experience became an important reminder of what photography could do—not just for the person in front of the camera, but for me as well.

It reinforced something I still believe today: creativity can be transformative.

A photograph can build confidence, create connection, change someone's perspective, or simply give them a moment to see themselves differently. I think there is growth that happens on both sides of the camera, and that's one of the reasons I continue to photograph.

Beyond Boudoir

While boudoir remains an important part of my work, my photography has grown to include editorial fashion, beauty, portraiture, and commercial photography.

I’m drawn to fashion because of its structure, creativity, and fluidity. I enjoy the details that bring an image together and the collaboration that happens between photographer, model, designer, stylist, and creative team.

For commercial and brand photography, I bring that same editorial perspective along with my understanding of marketing, content, and how imagery needs to connect with an audience.

Based in Northern New Jersey, I work with clients, creatives, and brands throughout New Jersey and New York City, with travel available for select projects and productions.

What You Can Expect

You don't need to know how to pose. You don't need to know exactly what to do with your hands. And you definitely don't need to arrive already feeling completely confident in front of the camera.

I'll guide you through the process while leaving room for your personality, ideas, and creativity to come through.
